Meditation for All

Anyone can benefit from meditation. There are plenty of studies that point out the ways meditation improves health and well-being. Sleep is one of many areas of improvement. Whatever brings you here, the most important thing to remember is to relax; meditation is a practice, and with time, you can improve many areas of your life. Meditation techniques are an easy way to gain control and have better results in all aspects of life.

I have been meditating since 6th or 7th grade because of horrible insomnia. I could hear every sound, from a clock ticking to street noises. I would agonize over how little sleep I had, tossing and turning. Every hour I would count the time I had before I needed to wake up. I’m not sure why I never told an adult, but I did turn to my mom’s collection of metaphysical books.

 After years of not sleeping properly, I learned to meditate or relax to such a degree that even though I did not sleep long, I woke up refreshed. Eventually, I used meditation to get to sleep, sleep longer, and help get back to sleep if I woke during the night.

I have studied all types of meditation and used it to help with pain, emotional distress, sleep, learning, relaxation, and much more. Learning the background to take advantage of the benefits of meditation techniques is optional. You don’t need to join a group; it does not conflict with religious practice or have a unique vocabulary. The individual practice expands independence and broadens spiritual practice. What you do need is the desire to have results. 

The first thing you need to do is learn how to be with yourself and your thoughts. I will share techniques that I learned and expanded over my lifetime. Let’s start with small slots of time in a quiet space. Just be still and silent. When thoughts move into your mind, acknowledge and let them move on. There are techniques to help stop overthinking. I have many meditation techniques that have helped me over the years. Give yourself time to go through each meditation.
